Payments
- How do I pay? All payments must be made through PayPal or the Revolution Money Exchange. You will be emailed a PayPal or Revolution Money Exchange invoice depending on which form of payment you prefer. However, it’s less expensive to pay through Revolution Money Exchange since they do not charge to send or receive funds.
Tutoring
- Can I cancel my tutoring session? You may cancel your session 24 hours in advance. We beg that you cancel instead of just not showing up. Please remember we are real people, we prepare a lesson for each tutoring session and must be at the computer available when it’s time for the session to begin. Therefore, we would really appreciate it if you let us know that you can’t make it or just decide to cancel.
- May I postpone a scheduled tutoring session? You may reschedule or postpone any scheduled session. However, we beg that you postpone 24 hours in advance.
- What if I don’t show up for my scheduled tutoring session? We will be here waiting on you with the prepared lesson in hand. Please, do your best to let us know if you won’t be able to make it to the tutoring session.
- Will you complete my homework for me? No. However, we will gladly help you work through your homework and explain grammar concepts as we work on your assignment together.
- Can I submit homework or assignments to you to have you check over them? Yes, once you have completed your assignment you may send it to us, and we will mark your errors. It is generally very helpful to schedule a live tutoring session after the revision so that we can go over the errors with you.
- How are tutoring sessions billed? Tutoring is $14/hour. The minimum tutoring fee is $14 regardless of whether the tutoring took an entire hour or not. After the first hour, tutoring is billed in 15 minute increments at $3.50 per 15 minutes. Example: If the tutoring session lasts 1 hour and 8 minutes, then the student will be billed for 1 hour and 15 minutes or $17.50.
- Do you tutor English, too? We offer English tutoring to ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
- Do you offer in-person tutoring? Of course! We are located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, España. If you are in the area studying English or Spanish we can gladly schedule in-person tutoring sessions.
General
- Are you a person or an organization? A little of both. We are a small, two-person company. We occasionally outsource work if we get overloaded. We only outsource work to native speakers of the language being dealt with. For example, Spanish transcriptions are only given to native Spanish transcriptionist and a Spanish to English translation would only be given to a native English speaker.
- Is SELVA a new company? Why yes! We were just born in August of 2009. We started out offering only Spanish tutoring and homework help, but we soon realized that there was much more to offer. Hence, Spanish and English Language Virtual Assistance came to be. Whatever your virtual need in Spanish or English, we are here to help.
- Are you hiring? Currently no. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apply. We may need you especially if a client requests something out of our abilities like translating Portuguese, for example. We may be able to hire you on contract work. We may be interested in Spanish or English tutors and teachers, native Spanish translators, native English translators, and transcriptionists.
